RECREATION ACTIVITIES       The Village Recreation Department sponsors activities for residents of all ages throughout the year at various locations.              THE SUMMER PLAYGROUND PROGRAM:  Arts and crafts, interpark competition in sports, special events and trips to local points of interests are offered.  Tennis is available in all five of the neighborhood playgrounds, and lessons are also offered for both adults and children.  The Garden City Pool offers a wide range of activities for the entire family.  In addition to swimming and free swimming lessons, the pool offers movie nights, dances, Carnival Night, Family Fun Day, competitive swim team meets and concerts featuring popular local artists.              THE WINTER PLAYGROUND PROGRAMS:  In the winter the Village provides seasonal sports and events such as flag football, roller hockey, ice skating and a Halloween party.   After school and weekend programs utilize the gym at Saint Paul's School as well as the Stewart and Stratford Schools.  Programs and activities from adults to kindergarten are offered.              THROUGHOUT THE YEAR:  Large numbers of residents take part in the aerobic exercise classes and open basketball programs which are offered at Saint Paul's Cluett Hall and Fieldhouse.  With the addition of these facilities, many new culturally oriented programs have been started, including art shows, dinner dances, concerts and family programs.              THE COMMUNITY PARK:  Located behind the Pool, features four Har-tru tennis courts, platform tennis, miniature golf, sand volleyball, athletic fields, and an adventure playground.  The athletic fields serve the needs of many Village residents who participate in leagues and programs offered by the G.C.A.A. ,  The Centennials, and the Recreation Department.  The tennis courts are now seasonally enclosed during the winter months, providing top quality indoor  tennis to the residents.              SUMMER CONCERTS SERIES:  A popular program during the summer months on the Village Green at the Gazebo is music.  Held Thursday evenings, this program presents a wide range of music from big band to nostalgic rock and roll.  Local as well as nationally known artists appear at the Gazebo each summer.              SENIOR RECREATION CENTER:  An area for the exclusive use of our senior residents, where they may have cookouts, play cards or shuffleboard or just socialize with friends.   The Senior Rec. Center houses a game room and a meeting room and is also available for evening rental by adult groups of the Village.
